Exercise and an overall healthy lifestyle is one of my greatest passions, and I love being able to share my passion with others!
The BAC has been a second home to me since January of 2001, when I joined to recover from a knee injury. A year later I was working the front desk, and in 2008, I became AFAA certified to teach classes. I’ve looked forward to Sunday mornings, when I teach Body Chisel at BAC Colvin, ever since. During the week, when I’m not at the BAC working out, I’m teaching my fourth graders in Hamburg. One of my favorite mottos is “Tell me I can’t and I’ll show you that I can”.
April, wife and mom of 3, has been a group fitness instructor for over 20 years. I’m Dana and I have been teaching Group Exercise classes for 18 years. I hold a Group Exercise Certifications from AFAA and my Nursing Degree from the Millard Fillmore School of Nursing/UB. I am currently teaching Body Chisel and cycling classes at Colvin BAC. I love everything about teaching at the BAC, sometimes it doesn’t feel like a job. My true passion really is women’s fitness. As women we struggle so much with looks, I want to be a contributing factor in changing that thought process. We all look different and the ideal you is the one you find in your heart and mind, not on the scale or in the mirror. I always tell the members, mind will lead body will follow. We are stronger both mentally and physically than we ever give ourselves credit for.
After losing over 50 pounds I joined the BAC and began taking group fitness classes. The instructors were so uplifting and inspiring I decided to try it too! I became AFAA certified over 7 years ago have taught a variety of classes. In 2011 I began working with Hope Chest to help breast cancer survivors regain strength and fitness after their illness. Helping all women to gain physical strength and build self confidence has become my passion!
I joined the BAC when Colvin opened over 8 years ago. Since then, I have become a Star 3 Spinning Instructor, AFAA & NAPHA Certified Personal Trainer, and Certified TRX Instructor. My job is about so much more than teaching people how to exercise. It’s about providing friendship, support and motivation as well as showing them that working toward better health and wellness can be fun and not feel like work. I am the mother of 3 children, two with special needs. At first, joining the gym was a way for me to escape – to do something for myself. It has become more than I ever could have dreamed…Now, it is a passion; a way for me to share my love for fitness and wellbeing! I hope that I can demonstrate to other “moms” that they CAN find time to stay fit too
